    Explanation

    Let age of son and man = a and 5a respectively, ∴ Average of age = a+5a2=18\frac{{a + 5a}}{2} = 18 ⇒ 6a = 18 × 2 ⇒ a = 6 Then, present age of man and son = 30 and 6 years respectively, After 6 years, age of son = 12 years Age of man = 30 + 6 = 36 years ∴ Required ratio = 36 : 12 ⇒ 3 : 1
