    Solution: x 2 - 7x + 12 < 0 => x 2 - 4x - 3x + 12 < 0 => x (x - 4) - 3 (x - 4) < 0 => (x - 4) (x - 3) < 0 এখন, (x - 4) এবং (x - 3) শূন্য হতে ছোট হওয়ায় এদের গুণফল Negative হবে । অর্থাৎ (x - 4) এবং (x - 3) রাশি দুটির উভয়েই Positive বা Negative হতে পারে না । এখানে হয় (x - 4) (x - 3) রাশি দুটির একটি ধনাত্মক এবং অন্যটি ঋণাত্মক হলেই কেবল মাত্র রাশি দুটির গুণফল 0 এর থেকে ছোট বা ঋণাত্মক হবে । (x - 4) < 0 অর্থাৎ (x - 4) ঋণত্মক হলে x < 4 তাহলে x - 3 > 0 x > 4 ণির্ণেয় সমাধানঃ 3 < x < 4 আবার, (x - 4) ধনাত্মক হলে (x - 3) ঋণাত্মক হবে । তখন ভিন্ন উত্তর হবে । কিন্তু যেহেতু উত্তর মিলে গেছে তাই আর হিসেব করতে হবে না । x এর মানকে নিম্নরূপে প্রকাশ করা যাবে 3 < x < 4.
