    Explanation

    Let x quintal tea of the first quality should be mixed with 150 quintals of second quality. Total cost of x quintals first quality tea @ Rs.250/quintal = Rs. 250x Total cost of 150 quintals second quality @ Rs. 290/quintal = Rs. (290 × 150) = Rs. 43500 Total cost of (150 + x) quintals mixture @ Rs. 350/quintal =Rs. 43500 + 250x Selling price of the mixture at 25% profit is Rs. 350 per quintal. So, Cost price of the mixture = Rs. (350×100)/125 = Rs. 280/quintal Therefore, 43500 + 250x = 280 (150 + x) ⇒ 43500 + 250x = 42000 + 280x ⇒ 30x = 1500 ⇒ x = 50 ∴ 50 quintals of first quality tea should be mixed.
